Welcome

The Boost For Kids Foundation was established in 2009 to generate sustainable funding for the programs and services offered by Boost Child Abuse Prevention & Intervention.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors with the mandate to raise funds that will allow Boost to respond effectively to the needs of children and youth who have experienced abuse. The Foundation’s initial mandate is to establish a $10 million capital fund in the next three years.

Caterpillar Crawl

This inaugural event will take place on October 16th, 2011, at the Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto. It will center on a kids-for-kids walk aiming to raise awareness among children and families about BOOST and its many services as well giving children a chance to help others in need. Following the walk, there will be a family focused celebration that includes fun stations, music and seasonal treats.

Our goal is for the Caterpillar Crawl Walk-A-Thon to be embraced at a grass roots level and grow into an annual national event in which children from all of Canada’s diverse communities can participate.

14th Annual Butterfly Ball

On May 26th, sponsors, supporters and guests made the 14th Annual Butterfly Ball® a grand evening and an even bigger success than the year before. The Butterfly Ball® provides vital financial support for Boost's programs and initiatives. Thank you to all who helped made it a special night. Boost will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and youth in our community. It is only because of you that Boost is able to help children escape abuse and start a new healthy beginning to life.

Thank you again for your generous support!

Please tune in for more information on next year's Butterfly Ball.

Boost for Kids Monthly Giving

In this past year, the Boost for Kids Foundation has recognized the need to undertake a new type of annual campaign that is all-inclusive and gives everyone connected with Boost an opportunity to make their gift. The Boost for Kids Monthly Giving grew from this vision for a formalized annual campaign and speaks clearly to the intent of the campaign - to give everyone the opportunity to make a charitable gift to express their belief in the work of Boost.

Phil Fontaine (Honourary Chair)

National Chief Phil Fontaine is a dedicated and highly respected leader in Canada. He has been instrumental in facilitating change and advancement for First Nations people from the time he was first elected to public office as Chief, at the young age of 28. He is a proud member of the Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba and still plays an active role in the support of his community.

Phil's political vision began to take shape while he was a youth activist with the Canadian Indian Youth Council and a member of the Company of Young Canadians. He realized that self determination and the implementation of treaty and land rights were crucial to alleviating poverty for First Nations peoples and became an early advocate for these rights. When he became Chief in his own community, he put his thoughts into action by establishing the first Indian controlled education system in Canada; a locally controlled Child & Family Services agency; and the first on-reserve Alcohol and Addictions Treatment Centre in the country.

Having taken these bold steps, it was not long before his leadership abilities began to be recognized beyond his own community.
